Wedding Trends: Silent Disco & Dueling DJs
Last week, we talked about one of my favorite new wedding trends: His and Hers Cocktails, but this week I wanted to share with you my hands down favorite new wedding trend - The Silent Disco.
If you haven’t been to a silent disco yet, here’s how it works:
Instead of traditional speakers, your guests are provided with headphones that play all of the dance party music through the wireless headsets. They have complete control of the volume and and are able to switch between 2 or 3 different channels to find the perfect song they want to dance to. We suggest adding a second DJ to create a dueling DJs type of atmosphere. Guests can flip between the 2 DJs and their headphones will light up according to which channel they are currently listening to. It’s a lot of fun seeing a large group of people dancing together to two different songs and it’s even more fun to take off your headphones and listen to everyone try and sing along. If you don’t like the song, you can change stations, and if guests nearby look like they are having a blast, you can tune in and join them.
For the third channel, you could make a playlist of 50’s & 60s music, or all slow dance songs - and give your guests an option for some easy listening or romantic dancing. Silent Discos are also perfect for your guests who would prefer to just sit and talk and perfect for venues with noise restrictions.
For your wedding, you would probably still want some traditional speakers for your cocktail & dinner music, your special dances, and for anyone you have planning to speak - but adding a silent disco element to your dance party will make for an unforgettable night for you and all of your guests!
